Sylvia Diamantopoulou was born in Athens, Greece in 1975. Her career began in 1993, when she worked as an assistant photographer at the studio of her father, photographer Takis Diamantopoulos. In 1994, Sylvia decided to further explore her passion for art, by pursuing a yearlong course in art history organized by Christie’s auction house. The following year, she attended Platon Rivellis’ seminar on theory and history of photography at the cultural center “Photographic Circle” in Athens. She later completed her education at the International Center of Photography in New York (ICP).

Alongside her apprenticeship and education Sylvia Diamantopoulou has been working, since 1996 as a free lance photographer. Her work includes architectural, fashion and lifestyle photography, stage and stills photography, as well as catalogue photography for galleries and auction houses.

Through her work Sylvia has always sought to develop a personal artistic language. The latter is apparent in her freelance projects, but above all in her artwork, which has been shown in several exhibitions, the most recent ones being:

  • September – October 2011. Fluss – Austria. ¬A tribute to contemporary Greek photographic and media art.
  • May 2010 Daydream M55 gallery Athens
